With CO2 equivalence, you can turn knowledge into action

In order to be able to correctly calculate and evaluate the climate impact of companies, the greenhouse gases generated are converted into CO2 equivalents. The conversion is carried out by comparing the quantity of a specific greenhouse gas with the quantity of CO2. This enables a standardised assessment of the various greenhouse gases with regard to their impact on the climate. To calculate the CO2 equivalents of Scope 1 and Scope 2 of a company, the average energy consumption in the sector is used, taking into account the size of the company and its turnover. Other factors are the location and the energy mix in the relevant country.

The CRIF ESG Score provides an initial estimate for Scope 1 and Scope 2 for a company and can therefore also be used to approximate Scope 3. For more detailed information, companies can also use the Synesgy platform and the CO2 calculator provided there, which follows the GHG Protocol. This enables increased transparency across Scope 1, Scope 2, and Scope 3.

The CO2 equivalent estimated by us gives you an initial impression of your own CO2 emissions and enables you to get to work on an action plan.

Identification of your environmental consumers with our CO2 data
Our CO2 equivalence calculation lets us provide you with data to help you better understand your Scope 1 and Scope 2 and identify major environmental consumers.
