Number of business bankruptcies up by 16.2% in March

CRIF has analysed the differences between the bankruptcies that took place in March 2021 and those that occurred in the same month of the previous year. The number of bankruptcies fell for several months in comparison with the year before, but the figures rose again for the first time in March 2021 (to a total of 688, which is equivalent to an increase of 16.2%).

Specific sectors
The sharpest increase compared with March 2020 was reported by the healthcare sector (+400%), recruitment (+300%) and other professional, scientific and technical services (+138%).

On the other hand, the food and beverage sector reported 11% fewer bankruptcies than in the same month of previous year, though it suffered 54% more bankruptcies than in February 2021.
The accommodation sector suffered an increase of +60% in the number of bankruptcies reported in March.
