Flaschenpost
Best Practice: Flaschenpost
Flaschenpost is the leading internet wine store in Switzerland. As a result of partnerships with more than 70 prestigious specialist wine dealers, customers can order over 15,000 different wines from a single source at www.flaschenpost.ch or via an iPhone App.
Challenges:
Shortly after the launch of the online shop, it was discovered that the purchase abort rate was high after the payment method selection stage – indicating that there was still some potential for an increase in the conversion rate. This finding was also confirmed many times in feedback from customers, who wanted to pay by "deferred billing" as well as by the existing payment methods.
Goal:
To offer the most popular payment method for the online trade in Switzerland, i.e. "deferred billing ". However, this needed to be realized at less cost and with less effort than the payment methods already available. It should also achieve an increase in the conversion rate (order rate) and “good” revenue, without high debt losses/default rates.
Solution:
Identification and credit checks integrated automatically into the web-shop and App ordering process, using Quick Check in combination with payment method management system supplied by CRIF.
Result:
By adding the deferred billing function together with the associated integration of credit checks by CRIF, we were able to increase our revenue by more than 30% from one day to the next. Approx. 80% of orders are now made by deferred billing. Today, use of Quick Check credit checks is also playing a significant role in our iApp, which contributes about 5% to the revenue. As a result of the quality and up-to-date nature of CRIF’s data, Flaschenpost achieved low debt losses of about 1%. This makes “deferred billing” payment attractive in comparison with credit cards and other payment methods.
